Fun Holiday Week

Thursday was Pioneer Day, which is a holiday that commemorates the day the LDS pioneers arrived in the Salt Lake Valley. For Family Home Evening on Monday we learned more about the pioneers' trek to Utah and about the seagulls saving the pioneers' crops from the crickets. Parker loved the lesson and especially loved to march around the room while we sang the pioneer songs from the Primary songbook. Brad got Thursday off of work as a holiday and took Friday off too. We visited with family, had barbecues, went to see The Dark Night and just hung out together. The new Batman movie was extremely well done, but definitely dark. Batman just keeps getting cooler gadgets. On Saturday we went to the Living Planet Aquarium in Salt Lake. It's not spectacular, but Parker loves it, so we have a season pass. Parker loves animals in general and sea life is no exception. That night we went to my grandma's and had a family party. My cousin was in town with his fiance, who I definitely approve of. Good choice, Greg. Julie, Scott, Heidi and Alison slept over at our house that night and came to church with us on Sunday. It's always fun to spend time with them! Here is a picture I took of the kids at my parents' house on Saturday. Heidi, Parker and Ali were all jumping on Grandma and Grandpa's bed and I asked them to lie down to take a picture.
