Valentine's Date

Brad is amazing!  Over a week ago he told me to plan on going out on Friday for our Valentine's date.  He knows how much I enjoy the anticipation!  He had arranged our kids to stay overnight with his parents, which they were super-excited about.  After dropped them off we headed downtown to Ruth's Chris.  A we pulled up, the valet they asked our last names.  From then on, everyone in the restaurant: valet, hostess, waiters, referred to us by name.  When we were seated, our waiter said, "Welcome to Ruth's Chris Mr. and Mrs. Pratt.  I hope you enjoy your Valentine's dinner."  Apparently when you make the reservations, they ask for the occasion so that they can congratulate you on it.

Ruth's Chris is ridiculously expensive, but it certainly is delicious.  Brad ordered the house salad and filet and I ordered tomatoes and onion, petite filet and lobster tail.  I had never tried lobster before and decided to seize my opportunity.  I am not generally much of a seafood fan, but the lobster was fantastic!  We shared the garlic mashed potatoes, sauteed mushrooms and caramelized banana cream pie for dessert (pictured).  It was all SO GOOD!  Mostly Brad and I enjoyed the ambiance.  It is very high-class and I love how it is personalized as nearly everyone greets you by name.

It's much too expensive to go with any semblance of regularity, but it was a wonderful evening!  Thank you to my handsome date!  I love you, My Valentine!

Do you know what I would have loved best of an evening like that? He found the sitter. I hate using the phone and asking things of people. Ben always wants to go out, but he never will find a sitter and I can't ever seem to get one so if he did that part of it I would be amazed! You are lucky to live near family too so it is easy to feel comfortable with it. Hooray for a fun night out. I am so happy for you.

What a tantalizing dessert...I hope to be able to go there someday. Yum! (I don't really like most seafood either, but lobster and crawfish are both scrumptious.)
