My kids have always been big climbers. If there is something they can possibly climb, they attempt to do it. That's why I'm a little surprised that until last night, Jason had never climbed to the top bunk. He had climbed lots of taller ladders at the park, but not at home. Jason would climb part way up, then slide through the hole and dive on his bed. Well, those days are over. Last night I came up to find him on the top bunk. He kept climbing up there instead of going to bed. To discourage it, I turned the bed around so the ladder was against the back wall. Parker can climb up and down the end, so I thought that would buy me some time to figure out what to do.
It didn't give me much. He didn't climb up more that night, but today he was up there again. I asked him how he got up there without the ladder. Here is the answer:
That child is seriously going to give me a heart attack. Going down is scarier than up, because he's so tiny and the bed is so big. He isn't even two yet, Crazy Kid! He knows how to climb down the end even better than climbing down the ladder, but it looks very precarious; The last thing we need is another broken limb. When Brad got home from work I told him about Jason's new skills. He joked to Parker about putting a monkey spell on Jason, so that's what Parker is talking about in the video.
Jason isn't the only one learning to climb new things. Parker scales his bunk bed on every side and jumps from the top of the ladder. He's going to give me a heart attack as well.
Parker has always been interested in the monkey bars, but being pregnant and newly postpartum, I didn't help him much. In the last two weeks he's learned to do it, but wants me to hold on. I'm not supporting him at all, but I guess he feels more secure. Of course he wouldn't do much for the video, but you get the idea.
I love that it was November 6th and warm enough to wear shorts. The temperature was in the upper 60s-sweet! Too bad the nice weather isn't sticking around.
