As a child I always loved to enter the Reflections contest at school every year. Now it's fun to be a parent and see what my child creates. This year the theme is "Diversity means..." I had to explain the word "diversity", but then I let him do what he wanted. His visual arts entry is titled "Friends" and is a group of different people all holding hands.

His literature entry was a poem. In case it's too small to read it below, it reads:
If You
If you have glasses or mustache or funny hairdo
Even if you have a funny pet or are new
I will be friends with you.

Parker's poem is marvelous. I read the whole thing just in his writing and totally understood without the translation. He's such a gem! That picture of everyone holding hands reminds me of a reflections entry I did. (I had a bunch of Cabbage Patch Kids holding hands and took a photo.) We are kindred spirits...
