Gratifying Construction

We decided we wanted more storage space to free up the garage.  It was lined with Christmas and other storage bins.  Our neighbors store things in the attic above their garage, so I borrowed their ladder to investigate ours.  I measured and then went to Lowes to buy the plywood and nails.  The kids loved watching them cut the plywood into the lengths I had measured.  I wanted it think enough to support myself and the storage bins, even if they weren't balanced on the trusses, although of course that's the goal.  I climbed up in the attic and was surprised that it only took me an hour or a little more to screw down all of my boards.  When Brad arrived home from work we managed to heave all the Christmas things up there, even our tree, which I feared wouldn't fit.
After I arranged everything so it was well balanced and so there would still be a pathway, there was still a lot more room.  Now I just have to decide what else to carry up there...certainly not anything we need very often. It's quite easy to get myself up and down, but even with two of us, getting anything heavy up there is quite a challenge.  The only photos I took were with my phone when I was done, so they aren't the best, but at least it gives you an idea.
I can honestly see how come some people genuinely enjoy construction work.  I have done very little in my life, but enjoy it when I get the chance.
