Stiches, Again!

Liesel tripped and split her lip on the TV stand at her grandparents'.  It had only been about eight months since her last stitches, crazy girl!  You can see the scar from the first injury on her forehead and her split lip.  We didn't want her lip line to be jagged, so we decided to take her in.  First we went to InstaCare, but the physician insisted we take her to Primary Children's.  You can hold a head still, but there isn't any way to stabilize lips, so she needed sedation.
It was almost 10:00 p.m. at night, but she was in good spirits in the waiting room.
At first she was running around in the waiting room.  They gave her Versed, which mellowed her out a bit and a local anesthetic.  They put arms her in a "cape", which was like a pillowcase behind her and then they wrapped her up like a burrito.  They had to do four stitches.  The first two she didn't move much, but the last two she was screaming and writhing.  It was heartbreaking, but luckily the first two stitches held tight while they finished up.  They wanted to monitor her for a half hour afterwards, so they brought in a popcicle and a plush red bird.
Hopefully this manic can calm down and not be back to urgent care for a while.

We had one of those instacare kids...stitches, two broken bones. She seems to have grown out of it since Kindergarten(knock on wood!).
